IA...I think this comes from Ken. Maybe Meng and Maxam didn't work well together? It's just weird that they would fire him and not someone involved with story. Unless he wanted to leave? I hope this means that DAYS doesn't tape MONTHS ahead? I really am surprised DAYS did something so quick.

Noel has been apart of DAYS for a few years now. He came onto DAYS with Ed Scott who had both proven their talent and success at Y&R and when Corday fired Ed Scott in 2008 Noel Maxam wasn't. They just promoted him in May. DAYS needs stability right now. I noticed that the new co executive producer is another PASSIONS alumni member so maybe Marlene and Darrell wanted her? Regardless I think DAYS shouldn't have fired Noel less than 6 months of promoting him to co-EP it makes DAYS look erratic

The ratings are not that bad and are in fact good. Days beats some prime time shows in ratings and if they can push back to the 2.0s, then they rate higher than syndicated. Don't let the numbers fool you.
However the overplay of new characters is not a good plan IMO. They lose the audience that they should be fighting to maintain.

For as much as people complain about Days becoming Passions, I've yet to see anyone give a concrete example of how the show resembles Passions in any production or writing way. Does it look like Passions? Are the storylines like Passions? From everything I've ever heard about Passions, there's no resemblance at all, especially without JER writing. I don't consider a couple of actors from one show coming to Days equivalent to turning Days into Passions. Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans didn't turn GH into Days when they went there. Eileen Davidson didn't make Y & R like Days, nor did Hogan Sheffer make Y & R Days (though I've heard he made it suck as much as he made Days suck, so there's that).
I have no idea why this guy got fired and for all I know him being gone might lead to improvements. Right now the show looks better than it did under Dena and certainly the characters are much improved, except for those who are always intolerable like Daniel and Sami, but the show is boooooooooooring. I thought they promised that you couldn't wait to tune in the next day, but so far I'm not interested enough in anything but EJ and Nicole to tune in on a daily basis. I'm already sick of Jack and Jennifer and since I hate Daniel, that doesn't help me watch their story. Alice's secret (or her first one, anyway) is DREADFUL IMO and none of the other stories are at anything resembling clifffhanger stages. I really want Will's story to get going but it's slow as molasses. I wish Mr. Maxam well but I also am not going to assume that his being fired was a mistake.

I think its unfair to bring up Passions like its a dirty word. I don't really care where they come from as long as I feel I want to watch DAYS....all of DAYS and right now, the only times I feel that way are with EJole.
If this person can bring some DRAMA to DAYS, then more power to her. (Even better if she can bring MORE EJOLE!)

I know I am biased because my DOOL world at least revolves around James Scott, so I am wondering how much this has to do with the falling out over James' contract. It comes rather soon after the whole thing went down and I really don't understand why he wouldn't have just made the proper changes when he was on his initial hiring/firing spree. I am convinced that whatever issues JS had were primarily story related; either he wasn't happy with the stories he was being given, or he wasn't going to be getting enough airtime. KC certainly seemed to think that losing him would be catastrophic to the show. Something had to be done.

As it has been said the guy was doing a good job. So why fire him? I can only come up with one reason and its shitty. They want to hire their friends. Its fine if they are good and the other guy was not doing his job. This is not the case here. So its just lets fire him and hire our old friends. That not cool. He didnt deserve to get fired cause he wasnt part of the cool clique. That is what I see. it pisses me off.

Isn't he the one responsible for the vast improvement in lighting, camera work, the new town square and basically the overall improvement in look and quality? The things that I think most everyone is happy with, yet he's fired. Kind of weird.

Definitely feels like DAYS keeps going after Passions peeps which is a mystery to me. I think maybe Marlene & Darrell wanted someone who they have a history with? As for Noel based on interviews in the past the cast and crew found him very easy to talk to. Even former DAYS insider Maggie Klaus seemed surprised he was let go. DAYS needs stability right now.
