So, I really think we need to make a list of what we know about the picture:
-the picture is framed and on the DiMantel, suggesting that the picture is of someone currently a DiMera and someone nobody would think it odd to be on the mantel. That is, Steffy doesn't care who sees it.
-there is no indication of gender, but the baby is white, and thus does not appear to be Lexie. We can rule out the current children too, probably, because Hope would likely have recognized a baby picture of Allie, Johnny or Sydney since she is their great-aunt and as noted, the picture wouldn't be of Theo either.
-frankly, Hope could arguably be expected to recognize a picture of EJ, but she would have no reason to recognize Chad's baby picture, not having known him until he was older.
-I'm kind of intrigued by the idea that the picture could be of Nicole, since it's not entirely crazy that EJ could have put a baby picture up of her, but I really doubt it's her, even though Nicole's parentage being at issue would be more interesting and plausible since her parents are both dead and gone. If they want to connect one of them to the Hortons I'd rather it be Nicole--but regardless, I'm sure that's not where they're going. Even though it would make HER words about wanting a Tom and Alice kind of love make sense. Everybody keeps pointing to EJ's words about the Hortons as foreshadowing, but why do only his words matter and not hers? There's just as much story if black sheep Nicole who wants nothing more than to be part of a loving family suddenly turns out to be a Horton, especially when they probably won't want her. I wish I hadn't talked myself into this idea because I actually really like it but oh well.
-Stefano had some sort of bond with Alice as evidenced by the paperweight.
-according to spoilers, Susan wrote a letter to Alice needing medical help for baby Elvis.
So, what do we have here? EJ isn't really EJ but a doppelganger Susan sent to protect her real son? (Kind of funny in light of EJ's recent fake-Rafing.) The mystery has to do with a DiMera but not EJ? Will it not matter if/when the pieces don't fit together as they usually don't on this show?

I love your idea about Nicole. God knows the poor girl could really use the loving support of a real family, considering the only ones left are pretty useless to her. No one wants to see Tayho back and it doesn't seem likely or necessary that they bring Brandon back. I doubt it's going to go this way but it's interesting and it would be nice for Nic to gain some family members. I'm fairly positive the baby pic is EJ. They have been pretty crafty with the cinematography in that they always cut from a shot of the baby pic and go right to a scene with EJ or, if it's not an EJ day, there are still the other pics on the shelf to go along with it, all of, or at least featuring, EJ as well. However, just because this pic might be EJ doesn't necessarily mean his parentage is going to be affected in the outcome. I see multiple twists coming in this story and I really can't say I have a solid theory myself as to what is going on. The way I see it, there are only two scenarios which be catastrophic, which would be, A-Stefano is not EJ's daddy and, B-Nicole and EJ end up being related somehow. I think either one of these things would be enough to make me turn off the telly for good. Anything else, I could live with. I'm still liking the idea of EJ being Maggie's son a lot. Wouldn't it be great if they could figure out a way to make him Marlena's! That just might be the answer to all my prayers!!! LOL...anyway...back OT Going back now to Pax's idea about Nicole being the baby, what if both EJ and Nicole were involved. Originally I was thinking that Victor created a phony paper trail leading to Daniel to cover for the fact that the baby is EJ, but what if that baby is really Nicole? Then we have the pic that Alice has. I think I've just been assuming all along that it was related to Maggie's eggbaby but what if it is completely separate from all of that? Maybe EJ is a Horton baby after all. Who knows! I haven't even began to consider how Madison might factor into all of this, and then there is the interview with Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes from about.com. Aside from the unmentionables which took place last week, I have really been enjoying this story, at least since they began hinting of EJ's involvement. Now, if they can just learn to curb their obsessions with triangles and infidelity stories, and keep EJ away from that woman who no one wants to see, the new writers just might do alright. |

Whatever the mystery is Stefano appears to be in on it so does elimanate Susan switching babies? And he seems to be warning Hope that she wouldn't like the outcome if she continued to probe. We are being led to believe that this mystery is about EJ, but why would Hope be upset about anything involving EJ unless she was somehow also attached to the mystery. And then we have Jenifer saying that she is sure that she saw that baby picture somewhere before.

I don't know much about EJ's conception since I wasn't watching the show at that time. However, I've been thinking that maybe Susan was implanted with someone else's eggs (Maggie or some other Horton?), and that's how she became impregnated. Maybe Stefano stole the eggs and used his own sperm to fertilize it. It would explain why Stefano and Alice are "bonded"... but it wouldn't explain why Alice would know about this and not do anything about it. Maybe Alice needed something, and Stefano agreed to help her if she kept his secret? I don't know, I have no idea what to think about this. I just hope that in the end, Stefano is still the biological father.

I havent seen the baby pic, but I doubt this is Nicole's story because it just seems that M&D don't value Ari carrying a story. I think she's supporting in this story.
I think its EJ thats somehow going to be a DiMera, thus tying in with Nicole saying she wants a love like the Hortons. Nicole will find out about his secret and EJ, with this help of his Horton side will woo Nicole back by using his Horton side.

I can't stop thinking about the Susan/Alice connection. One of the recent sow or sod articles states that SUsan contacted Alice when Elvis was a baby b/c he needed medical attention. My question is, why the hell would Susan ask Alice for help? I think that connection could explain Alice having a baby pic of EJ - she helped save his life? The other thing that bugs me is that Maggie recently talked to Victor about Daniel & Melame getting tested for whatever disease Maggie has, which leads me to believe maybe EJ is Maggie's son and inherited whatever she has and thats why he needed medical attention as a baby? Or maybe I just need to stop analyzing this and just wait and see! LOL

If little Elvis needed medical attention as a baby and Maggie has a medical condition that can be passed down to her offspring, Stefano's bond with Alice I am assuming this comes after Susan contacted Alice for help...it seems to me EJ is Maggie'd son what I haven't figured is whether or not Stefano is still his father but maybe that's where the Stefano/Alice comes in.

EJ has the child of Marlena and Stefano  ...holy crap how the ish would hit the fans....you have children with your half brother?!?!? As much as I would love the connection broken between Sami and EJ forever don't think that is going to happen LOL!! As far as the story it keeps getting more and more complicated and when it all comes out I hope I can still follow how they connected the dots. Really wish this was a Nicole story too, but sadly I think it is that EJ is Maggie's I just hope he comes out of all of this still a DIMERA!!! |

EJ being Maggie's son does NOT make him a Horton. Maggie is a Horton by marriage.

Nice brain-teaser, Pax. I like this. Thanks for pointing that out about Horton-by-marriage, Mirage. I've been waiting for someone to clarify. But honestly, I don't think anyone remembers Maggie isn't really a Horton after all this time. I don't think even Maggie knows she's not a Horton, at least from the way they've been writing her.  Greatscott -- I love the way you think! But here's the thing about Maggie's illness: it manifests as an adult. I believe that's part of the illness. So EJ having issues as a baby wouldn't work. But, then again, this is uber-scientific soapland, so... still possible. Notice how the baby is dressed conveniently in yellow. We don't know if it's a boy or girl. I, too, like the idea of working on Nicole's family, but as Liz said, they don't seem to want her to carry a story. Which is a [insert expletive here] shame. They are missing out on what kept Days on the air. sigh. So let's start with mom. What intrigues me is watching Stefano with Hope (his warning her off of it for her own good), Jennifer being involved, Doug and Julie going to Africa where Bill is and discovering a piece or THE piece of the puzzle. Bill and Laura. Jennifer is Bill and Laura's daughter, right? As was said, Laura had a meltdown, but is okay now, apparently -- she was at Alice's funeral. And they brought Bill back to say hi. He also mended fences with Kate -- who had a thing with him once. I don't see that they bring Maggie into this that much, except through Daniel being included. So I'm veering away from her -- though, again, I could change my mind. They may be keeping her under wraps until the Victor part of this comes into play -- his hiding the truth from Maggie. I mean, Victor was awfully quick to accept Daniel as Maggie's son. I know his "truth" could just be that he was involved in stealing her eggs (that sounds so BAD), and that could be the end of it. I am partially thinking that because so far I don't see evidence that these writers are deep thinkers. They think a story through about 5 moves ahead, but no further. BUT wouldn't it be fun if Victor knew about Stefano being involved somehow? As the story goes on, the convos between Victor and Steffie would rock the house. But that's just a personal wish of mine. Now I want Julie to be EJ's mom. BUT the fact that Susan Seaforth Hayes says she and Doug are only in for a few epis and then go off on a trip and then come back with info -- and she doesn't appear to feel that Doug and Julie are going to be contract players ever again. At least, that's what I got from their interview. In order for Julie to be EJ's mom, she would have to come back full-time -- at least for a while. And I think we'd see a hint of that. But we don't. Sigh. So we're back to Maggie being the mom. Which I still like, but they are certainly keeping her at arm's length so far. Now whose mommy is she? I am trying so hard to make what I want to happen happen -- let it be EJ! -- but the more I think about it, I can't make it fit. I think it's more likely the picture is Daniel and that he's a DiMera. Maggie's the mom. Daniel's DNA has been tested and it's a match (unless Steffie or Victor pulled some strings, but how many freakin times has that been done?). And here's where my brain then goes -- and I don't want to go there, believe me! Susan Banks contacts Alice bc she needs help with EJ. Daniel was the baby; not EJ. EJ is NOT a DiMera, but Daniel is. I mean, all we know is when EJ Wells showed up on the scene, we got that creepy Elvis flashback. But was there ever any actual medical proof that Steffie was EJ Wells's dad? The fact that Victor was instrumental in keeping Stefano's son away from him all these years would rock, also. This leaves golden child Daniel waking up as a DiMera and baby-boy EJ left out in the cold -- after finally accepting who he is as a person and taking the reins of the DiMera empire. sob! But stepping back from the precipice on this...please God, let me be wrong... 1) Question: have Daniel and Jennifer slept together? I can't remember if they have, bc I forwarded through nearly all their scenes for months. 2) Has Jennifer seen the baby pic or just Hope? 3) Bill, Jennifer's dad, is involved for some reason. Since we know the pic could be a boy or a girl, try this one on for size: It's Jennifer. Daniel and Jennifer are related. I'd be interested to see if they do much kissing or have any kind of makeout scene ever again... Hmm... Or Daniel could just be EJ's brother. See how I managed to make that look like a good thing? My main question now: Stefano knows! He had a deal with Alice about this. Why on earth would Stefano agree to let Hortons raise his son or daughter? Because the baby was ill and Hortons are all doctors? I don't know about that one. |

Peachy, yes, Jennifer and Daniel have done the nasty, and I do mean nasty. I don't think the show will relate them because Daniel is Awesome Perfection to the Billionth Degree.
Great points in this thread! I really like the point that since Stefano seems to be in on it, the secret wouldn't seem to be Susan switching out Elvis with another baby--unless that's not the secret Stefano knows. Maybe Stefano does know (there's precedent with Tony, isn't there, for Stefano accepting non-blood relatives?), but I can't see him being okay with an actual child of his being raised elsewhere.
I'll be curious to see what happens with Susan next week.
